Meet David Asing
Of Chinese-Hawaiian heritage and raised in Kaimuki, I am deeply rooted in District 20. After graduating from Kalani High and the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, I dedicated over ten years to public education as a math teacher. I followed my mother’s legacy, striving to equip our youth with the tools of critical thinking, logic, and the resilience needed for a bright future.
My commitment to our community extends far beyond my time in the classroom. In 2007, I launched 'Akahi Productions to champion our local entertainers and safeguard Hawaii’s precious cultural legacy. Transitioning from the DOE in 2014, I, with a former business partner, successfully opened a preschool the following year and eventually expanded to three locations. Today, I also serve as a neighborhood handyman through 'Akahi Handyman Services, where I provide dependable, high-quality help to local families. Navigating the world as a small business owner has taught me the real-world obstacles our economy faces. These experiences drive my dedication to bringing practical, common-sense leadership to our district and ensuring a sustainable future for us all.
From my time teaching at Kalani and Kaimuki High School to managing island-wide talent and venue entertainment, I have always been driven by a passion for service. Now, I am ready to bring that same dedication to the State House, ensuring our District 20 families have a representative who honors their history and champions a sustainable, common-sense future for us all.
